The Fontmell Pigs

Keeping it local - Fontmell Pigs

Did you know we breed our own rare breed Gloucester old spot cross Berkshire's just 2 miles from the pub. This provides all the pork for the pub from the sausages and bacon that guests enjoy at breakfast to our Sunday pork shoulder roast to the pork scratchings on the bar. Even the sausage rolls on the bar are freshly baked with our own pork. It is part of our home grown philosophy to know the provenance of the food we deliver to your table. Keeping it local is in our DNA and our pigs are just one example of our dedication to your plate. READ MORE...

Breakfast Networking with Laura Jones

This week we had a special guest for friday Breakfast at the Fontmell. The inspirational Laura Jones from monix Adventures who told us about her 7 marathons around the globe that she has run over the last year. This was our first go at breakfast networking, followed by an inspirational speaker to get us ready for the weekend. A group of 15 local residents, business people and medical professionals arrived at 0730 for a delicious breakfast of Fontmell pork, beans, eggs and fried bread. This was followed by one of the most inspirational talks we have ever heard.

In the last year Laura has completed 7 marathons around the world including London, Everest, The Yukon (-40 degrees) and Killimanjaro (2 weeks ago) all to raise money for two great charities: The Jonny Wilkinson Foundation for Mental Health and the Scouts. We really enjoyed the talk and feel slightly overawed but inspired all the same to get outdoors. Alongside this we managed to raise nearly £100s for Laura's chosen chairites. If you want to attend the next event please let us know, or maybe you have an interesting tale to tell yourself. The event is organised by the team here at the Fontmell and the guys from Mad for it.
